The Story of Quantum Activism Vishwalayam — an Institution of Quantum Transformational Education

We hope a substantial number of you are wondering about if there is an institution of Transformational quantum higher education already in place where you can receive such higher education of hero’s journey that we are propounding?

The two of us – Amit and Valentina, and friends, some in America, some in Brazil, some in India, some in Europe, have founded such an institution.

We call it Quantum Activism Vishwalayam. The Sanskrit word Vishwa means the world; layam means home. Vishwalayam stands for home of the world. It is the educational wing of the Center for Quantum Activism in the USA; it is also the center’s liaison to the University of Technology, Jaipur, India, a fully government affiliated university. As the department of Quantum Science at UOT we are now offering a Masters and PhD program in Quantum Science of

Health Prosperity, and Happiness, bonafide quantum higher education mostly taught online.

Why use the word activism? Because as we believe that students educated the quantum way will become activisms of a new breed, activists who transforms the world as they transform, they not only change but they share with humanity the agency and eventually the fruits of their change.

It all began with an inspiration. In 1973, I (Amit) was at the height of my academic physics career. I was invited to a physical society meeting; I gave the talk but when the next speaker spoke; I thought he did a better job, and I was jealous. This went on the whole day, speaker after speaker presented, and I was jealous of all of them. Even in the evening at a party, I was jealous of the other men because they were attracting more female attention. The jealousy energy gave me a raging heartburn. At about 1 am in the morning, I found that I had exhausted my entire packet of antacids. I became disgusted and I went outside on to the fresh ocean air. Suddenly, unexpectedly, came this thought, “Why do I live this way?” and with that came the conviction that I can do otherwise; I can do happy physics. I can go more congruence between the way I think, the way I live, and the way I do physics. That intention followed the inspiration immediately. But no intuition.

A year later, I dreamt my father. My father was a spiritual guru of sorts. When I was growing up as a little child, I often wondered what do the five or six disciples who gathered around him on a mat do actually. And yet I was aware that my father had a being that had a calming effect on people including myself. In the dream, my father had a snake in his hand; he threw it at me, and I caught it.

Wow! I was intrigued, what does the dream mean? A friend explained. My father is a symbol of transformation for me. A snake signifies change. I need to look at spiritual transformation.

That resonated with me, and I started hobnobbing with meditating groups, Muktananda followers in town, Zen priori, New Age meditation groups, that sort of thing.

One thing led to another. I went to a workshop and the leader taught us what he said was the latest quantum wisdom: We create our own reality. Can we create a car that way? Somebody asked. Of course, we can, the leader said. “But look! That takes a lot of meditative intention difficult to manifest in a five-day workshop. So, I want you to practice manifesting a parking space for your care.”

That was a daunting task, I found out. I drove to the downtown where the workshop was half hour early; did my intention just as he taught us and drove around looking for a spot. I ran out of time

and ended up paying for my parking. And the same experience replayed every following day! I could not do it! The only consolation was that only a few succeeded.

But the exercise perked my curiosity about the message that quantum physics is supposedly giving. I have practiced quantum physics since my college days; never heard of that one. A little research showed it was a slogan created by the physicist Fred Alan Wolf.
Ok, that’s how came the intuition of what I needed to look at: quantum physics and the ideas of the power of Consciousness it hints at, ideas that were laden with paradoxes and controversies at the time.

When finally, I solved the paradoxes and discovered the quantum physics of Consciousness that I shared with you in my books. Then I came across a fellow who had an organization with a great name: World Peace University. And that was it! An idea but no substance. I easily convinced him. Why don’t we teach the science of Consciousness that quantum physics is helping us create? Surely, such teaching will also teach people peace! He agreed along with another bunch of New Agers who were trying to develop a spiritual farming community.

This did not fly. Reluctantly, I had to admit to myself that you cannot make people commit to a science that is in the making; that takes much more risk that a student can be expected to take. Of course, that never stopped people with money and organization. All over America, educational institutions were springing up teaching what can at best be called post-materialist education. A hodgepodge of different ideas that more concentrated on pointing out the defects of the existing worldviews that give the students a coherent substitute. These institutions still exist and, generally speaking, they do a good job in creating some sort of vehicle for people to ride, for people who are searching for meaning and purpose but cannot find in the existing establishment institutions.

The good thing students learn is some of the age-old techniques of transformation like meditation. The bad thing that their thinking ends up being very confused between all the models of Conscious- ness they are taught. As I said, this is good for researchers, not for students who are looking to a new way to live and earn livelihood.

This situation still prevails. The post-materialists cannot agree with each other’s model of Consciousness! How can they? They neither follow the old spiritual way which is to spend years and years in the transformational journey without knowing exactly what you are supposed to be doing; or the way of exploring the possibility of a modern dogma-free science with a conjunction of theory and experiment.

For me, it was a long waiting game during which I explored and found such a science in quantum physics integrating the message of the wisdom traditions. The long exploration time was good for me because I was forced to make progress in both ways of wisdom: the experiential and the scientific. In 2009, I was fairly certain that something needs to be done to attract the attention of the post-materialists to look at the wonderful new results quantum science was giving: a science of Consciousness and experience; an integration of all the different transpersonal and unconscious-based theories of psychology with materialist approaches; an integration of the modern and traditional ways of healthcare; a new theory of evolution that integrated Darwin’s ideas with Consciousness-based ideas of Teilhard de Chardin and Sri Aurobindo; even a science of reincarnation. The post-materialists were too attached to their easy systems approach and the philosophy of holism; they still are at the time of this writing. I started a new movement: quantum activism. It did not change the minds of many of the post materialists, but it did touch a chord with people aspiring for meaning, especially women.

I started the movement of quantum activism and established the Center for quantum activism. It developed quite a bit of interest in America, Europe, and India, and especially in Brazil.

In 2016, I was invited to present my ideas about the quantum science of Consciousness at a spiritual organization in Pyramid Valley, Bangalore. My talk created a stir. Afterwards, I was discussing my work with the guru of the organization and some of the important decision makers. At some point I expressed some bitterness about the obvious: people who dare to look at the new quantum science paradigm seriously cannot be found much any- where. The physicists who “know” physics were afraid of delving into Consciousness; people who try to “know” Consciousness were afraid of delving into physics. The guru said, “Why don’t you start your own university?” Simultaneously, the businessman who funded the ashram was nodding his head in approval and very soon everybody in the room were enthusiastic with the idea.

I was dumbfounded. Was the intention formed in the nineteen eighties coming to fruition? Well, it was still too early; politics entered, politics entered, and things broke down.

Months later, it was my friend Anil Sinha who I met at the Pyramid Valley, came to the rescue with the help of a spiritual businessman named Dinesh Kukreja in Jaipur. By that time, I had acquired a few more co-founders, especially Valentina, who became very soon my main collaborator. Dinesh helped us with the finances for running a pilot program. The program did not succeed in terms of getting a whole bunch of committed students. But the few who attended did find quantum education transformational.

After the pilot program, Dinesh withdrew his financial support because of personal problems, so I had to face a big decision. Up till then, all my life, I have been a researcher and a teacher but neither a businessman nor a leader.

Several years earlier, I wrote a book Quantum Economics in which I proposed an extension of Capitalism to catch up with the quantum worldview. This book talked about how a quantum leader must also be an entrepreneur in subtle businesses, businesses that use vital energies, mental meaning, and transformational archetypes as business commodities. I realized this was the time to walk my talk. The result is: Quantum Activism Vishwalayam offering master’s in psychology and PhD in various professional areas, all of them – applications of quantum worldview – at a fully government affiliated university, the University of Technology in Jaipur, India.

This was a long journey, and so is its intended fruit—for people who are ready, education toward the transformation and the exploration of the higher needs of life that makes human life worth living. Fortunately, when your objective is consonant with the purposive movement of Consciousness, it ends in success. Mine did and so will yours.

Are you ready to make a commitment to make thinking, living, and livelihood congruent? For the master’s it is a two-year commitment and for PhD the commitment is longer: three and a half to six years. Email us at info@amitgoswami.org.
